Build Quality, Design and Form Factor
Swipe Slate Tablet looks great and looks quite similar to iPad mini, in terms of build quality it has good metal back which again cannot be removed but does give a great solid feel to the device, the button for volume up and down are also metallic and gives tactile feedback when you press them. Design seems to be inspired from iPad mini but still it does not feel bad in anyways, however the backside has a great matte finish which feels great in hands. The form factor of the device is not like any other 7 inch tablet as its little wider which makes it slightly difficult to hold in one hand and weight of the tablet is around 400 grams which is fairly right compared with with some 8 inch tablet like iPad mini, although its not purely an 8 inch display device its slightly less.
Camera Performance
The rear 5MP camera on the tablet does not have tap to focus while taking photos, the overall image quality was average if not bad, but yes it can take decent photos in daylight and LED flash is missing for low light photos. The front camera is pretty average at VGA quality, you can do a video call with it but don’t expect great details. There are some photo samples below. Camera Samples coming soon…
Display, Memory and Battery Backup
It has 7.85 inch HD IPS Display 1024 x 768 pixels which gives pretty good but not the best viewing angles, the display resolution seems ok, but you if you take a closer look, you might notice little amount of pixels in text formation. The in built memory of the device is 8 Gb out of which around 5 Gb approx. is available to the user, however you do have the option to install apps on memory card and you can set SD card as default write disk for apps. The battery on the device is 3200 mAh which seems good but could have been better, as you watch a full length movie on the tablet for around 2 hours or more the battery will degrade much faster but with average day to day usage and minimal gaming and entertainment use you will get around 7-8 hours of backup from the device.
Software, Benchmarks and Gaming
The software UI is slightly optimised to give you a better experience, its snappy and fast. There are some additional apps from MTV to watch MTV channel videos of their popular TV programs and a video player which gives you a better multimedia experience. It can play most of the medium graphic intensive games like Frontline Commando D Day with little graphic glitch and casual games like subway surfer and Temple run oz ran fine without any issues. Sound, Video and Navigation
The overall sound which comes out from loud speaker is loud enough and it does not get blocked as it placed on the edges, but you might unknowingly block it. The quality of the sound through the ear phones is better but high in treble but lacks bass levels. HD videos at 720p or 1080p can be played on this device, most of the popular formats are supported or else you can install third party players like MX Player and BS Player for unsupported format. The device can also be used for GPS navigation, it has compass sensor as well for better navigation. It can also accept 3G SIM card so you can use for navigation on the go, but it will also consume some 3G or 2G data for downloading some smaller files required for navigation.

Conclusion and Price
Swipe MTV Slate tablet seems to be a great option if you want your tablet to look like iPad mini and performance wise its decent performer. It is available on online portals for a price of around Rs. 13,999 INR which makes it a quite value for money tablet, but the battery power is something which should be more on this device as per our review so that it last more for entertainment specific use.
